Are any of your Family Physicians accepting new patients?

Yes, a few of our family physicians are accepting new patients.  Please visit our website at marlborough.essencemedical.ca to register with one of our family physicians by submitting the New Patient Registration Form.

We provide services in English, Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu and Arabic.

How do I make an appointment at the clinic?

You can make an appointment by calling our clinic line at (403) 514-6001, or by emailing us at appointments@marlboroughmedical.com.

You will need to bring your Alberta Health Care Card and one piece of Photo ID. You will need these documents at the time of your appointment.

I currently have a Family Physician. Can I change my current Doctor and register with your clinic?

Yes, you can register with us.  If needed, we can help you with the transfer of your medical files from the old clinic to our clinic.  Please contact our clinic at (403) 541-6001 for more information.

How do I arrange to visit with one of your Specialist Physicians?

Please discuss your medical condition with your Family Physician and ask for a referral for one of our Specialist Physicians. If your Family Physician feels that you need to be looked at by a specialist then they can contact our office at (403) 514-6001.

I am new to the province of Alberta, how do I register for the Alberta Health Care Card?

If you are new to Alberta, then you should contact Alberta Health Services to register for Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan.

The Alberta Health Care Insurance Plan (AHCIP) covers all eligible Albertans for insured hospital and physician services in Alberta.

What are some of the services that are not covered by the Alberta Health Care Plan?

Alberta Healthcare Plan covers all the costs of visiting a Physician and Inpatient Hospital Services but there are certain expenses that Alberta Health Care Plan does not cover.
Some of the uninsured services are:

 

  • Cost of Prescription drugs
  • Ambulance Services
  • Dental and Chiropractic Services
  • Cosmetic Surgery and procedures for Cosmetic Purposes
  • Sick Note
  • Pre-Employment Medicals
  • Driver’s Medicals
  • Insurance Medicals

How can I get Supplementary Health and Dental coverage for me and my family?

Patients should consider obtaining insurance for services not covered under Alberta Health Plan. There are many insurance companies offering Insurance products to suit your needs. Blue Cross is very popular with Self Employed people.

Where can I go or get medical advice after hours, when the clinic is closed?

If you need health advice or information call Health Link 24/7 by dialing 811 or visit www.MyHealth.Alberta.ca

Our Physician Staff are not available after clinic hours. There are number of options available to Patients if they require Medical Services after hours.  Patients can call Health Link by dialing 811 for quick and easy advice from a registered nurse 24/7.

I need a sick note . Do you charge for a sick note?

Yes, sick notes are not covered by Alberta health plan. It is considered an uninsured service.

What uninsured services do you provide and how much do they cost?

  1. Clinic Visit if you don’t have Alberta Health Card
    Out of Province: $60
    Out of Country: $120
  2. Sick Note: $15 (doctors discretion)
  3. Pre-Employment Medicals: $120
  4. Driver’s Medicals: $100 (Unless indicated otherwise)
  5. Insurance Medicals: $120
  6. Medical Forms: $30-$80
